2nd Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment

2nd Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment went into to battle with 767 men, 87 were killed, 17 of them are missing since.

The following graves on Arnhem-Oosterbeek War Cemetery holds the body of a known member of the South Staffordshire  Regiment:

 

1.B.11, 100 yards east of the Old church, north of Benedendorpsweg.

2.A.5, In a mass grave in the garden of the Ter Horst Family on Benedendorpsweg.

15.A.20, Onder de Bomen General Cemetery at Renkum.

15.B.1, Mass grave near the St Elisabeth Hospital.

15.B.2, Mass grave near the St Elisabeth Hospital.

15.B.3, Mass grave near the St Elisabeth Hospital.

15.B.4, Mass grave near the St Elisabeth Hospital.

23.C.12, Hogeweg,near Acacialaan, Oosterbeek,September 1977, believed to be a South Staffordshire soldier.

 

The following graves on Jonkerbos War Cemetery holds the body of a known member of the South Staffordshire  Regiment:

8.C.9, 20 yards south of church, by stream north of river.

15.I.4, Maurik General Cemetery, 11 November 1944, Rhine river, believed to be a South Staffordshire soldier.

There is also a statement that he was seen in Stalag 12A on 30-10-1944, However there is no record of him, being taken POW, so this is probably no correct.
